Progressive Black Men, Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Jamaican Alliance Movement (JAM), and soon the American Marketing Association, 2008 Orientation Team Leader
How has diversity played a role in your college experience?
When I came to college I didn’t know much about other cultures. I have met so many different, wonderful people from different places here at USF and learned so much about other cultures. The amount of diversity here is quite remarkable. I’ve learned about different ways of life and have even traveled to some places just to get a better sense of a culture I learned of from someone at USF. The great thing about diversity is being able to embrace all the different kinds of lifestyles; even taking what you like from another culture and making it part of your lifestyle. As people, we can learn so much from one another and embracing each others cultures and how we are different can help us work better together.
What does the celebration of Black History Month mean to you?
The celebration of Black History Month is a great time for everyone to learn more about Black people and the contributions we have made, not only in America, but all over the world. It also is a time to focus on celebrating how far we have come and really seeing how far we can go, not only as Black people, but society as a whole.
